Today I was in line at the grocery store. It was the second time I'd been there today. I needed a couple more things for dinner that had slipped my mind earlier. The girl in front of me had two things... ketchup and a bottle of soda. The clerk rang up her purchases. She searched her purse for her debit card. She started to panic. Her card was missing. The clerk start to ring up my items.
"Just add her stuff to my bill." I said.
The girl was speechless... let looked relieved.
"I can't thank you enough."
But I got what I needed. I was surprised at how much joy came from helping someone else.
The time has come when we cannot just rely on others to make the world a better place – each one of us has to do our bit.
Random acts of kindness is all about doing to others what you would like others do to you. It is about recognizing how your behaviour affects others, and holding yourself accountable for your actions.
Kindness is contagious.
It is truly a win/win/win situation. The person you are being kind to benefits through your help. You feel good for having helped someone. And the world is a better place through your kindness.
