Gospel Study - The Power of Deliverance

Today I read Elder L. Tom Perry’s talk, The Power of Deliverance.

This talk took my mind back my recent reading of the Book of Mormon – where I read with my grandson, Ben, in mind.

Most definitely this book of scripture shows me “that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.”

This book of scripture reminds me to “lift up [my] head and be of good comfort…”

I appreciated Elder Perry's reminder of how important both the Bible and Book of Mormon are together. "Neither the Bible nor the Book of Mormon in and of themselves is sufficient. Both are necessary for us to teach and learn about the full and complete doctrine of Christ....Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon are necessary for our salvation and exaltation." What a blessing to have these two books!

My favorite part of Elder Perry’s talk was his story of the boy at the beginning.
“Are you a Mormon?”
“No.”
“Well, you should be. It is a great religion. Have you read the Book of Mormon?”
“No.”
“Well, you should. It’s a great book.”
